Congressman Don Davis announces grants for NC cities

Congressman Don Davis, representing North Carolina's 1st district, shared several updates through his social media posts. His recent tweets cover a range of topics from grant funding for local cities to military training and educational achievements.

On December 9, 2024, Congressman Davis announced that three cities in eastern North Carolina have received grant funding through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program. The funds will aid Rocky Mount, Wilson, and Henderson in acquiring safety supplies such as active shooter kits and ballistic shields. "Great news! On December 10, 2024, he emphasized the importance of training within the Air Force. Congressman Davis stated that such training is essential for excellence and forms the backbone of their mission to ensure teams are prepared for global challenges. "Training in our Air Force is not just necessary—it’s essential for excellence. It’s the backbone of our mission, ensuring our teams are fully prepared and capable of meeting any challenge worldwide."

The following day on December 11, 2024, Congressman Davis celebrated Computer Science Education Week by highlighting Lydia and Bethany Denton as winners of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge. The sisters developed BITES Bento Box to assist individuals with diabetes in accurately tracking food macros. "During Computer Science Education Week, we celebrate Lydia and Bethany Denton, the 2024 Congressional App Challenge winners! The sisters were inspired to create BITES Bento Box to help people with diabetes accurately track macros in food."
