Congressman Greg Murphy, a U.S. representative hailing from North Carolina’s 3rd district, has expressed his support for first responders and critics of certain medical education leadership through a series of Twitter posts. A legislator and practicing physician, Murphy has served in Congress since 2019, succeeding Walter B. Jones Jr. His public communications reflect his policy priorities and advocacy efforts.
On March 27, 2025, Congressman Murphy tweeted about his introduction of a new bill aimed at assisting firefighting and emergency medical service personnel. "Our first responders and emergency medical service professionals sacrifice so much to keep us safe. I’m proud to introduce the First Responders Retirement Parity Act to ensure full-time, nonprofit firefighters and EMS personnel can access our state's pension plan."
On March 28, 2025, Murphy criticized certain medical education leadership organizations. He stated, "Because of disastrous leadership @AAMCtoday and @acgme medical education has suffered. Patients are being harmed. It is time for new leadership and a direction that cares about patients first."
Later the same day, Murphy reported on his legislative activities, including the successful passage of a bill at the VA Health Subcommittee. "This week, the House was back in action restoring common sense. I introduced legislation to support our first responders, and my bill to make HBOT available to our veterans passed the VA Health Subcommittee!"
